Restaurant Week: Round 3
The intern class at work has been very welcoming and invited me along on their lunch at db bistro moderne for Restaurant Week. I walk past this restaurant daily on my way to work. It is super fancy and I was looking forward to the opportunity to go inside! This was my chance and I snagged it! The interior of the restaurant is modern, sleek and sophisticated. It was an absolute treat to pay $25 to dine in such a fancy-schmancy spot.
As we contemplated what to order, we started on the first (of many) bread baskets. The bread was deliciously warm and served with perfectly soft butter. I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH!
For my first course, I went with the Soupe de Jour - it was a Chilled Romaine Lettuce Gazpacho and simply lovely! The flavor profile was clean and bright. It was different than any soup I've ever had - yum!
For my entree, I ordered the house-made potato gnocchi made with Broccoli Rabe pesto, roasted red pepper, Parmesan cheese and Nicoise olives. I mistakenly thought that ordering a vegetarian dish would mean a larger dish. OH HELL NO. It did not mean that! While I enjoyed each bite, there were few. At least I ate a ton of bread..Plan B(read).
Some of the smarter people at the table (Jefferson and Zac) ordered the Grilled Poussin (young chicken!) with roasted fingerling potatoes, Panzanella salad and Chimichurri . It looked lovely and I regretted not ordering it!
Katharine ordered the Olive Oil Poached Cod with Cauliflower Couscous, Golden Raisins, and Parsley Coulis. She enjoyed it but was not super impressed.
For dessert, I ordered the Chocolate Delice with Chocolate Chiffon, Strawberry Mousse and Dark Chocolate Sorbet. It was absolutely DIVINE!
Some people ordered the Lemon Meringue Tart made with poached blueberries, caramelized phyllo, and yogurt sorbet. It looked pretty!
Katharine got the "Assiette de Fromage" AKA THE FANCY CHEESE PLATE!
This spot was quite nice and I look forward to coming back sometime soon - likely during Restaurant Week or another meal deal. The food is lovely but expensive!
Cheers,
Liz
