David Burke has Another Home Run

I met up with my close friend Aish for dinner at David Burke Fabrick. The name of the restaurant plays on the neighborhood in which it is located: the Fashion District. Aish and I both live and work near here, so it was the perfect spot to explore without traveling too far after a long work day.

The menu has FABRIC - get it?

The ceiling is covered in fabric swatches, so awesome.

Once we were seated and reviewed the menu, we each ordered a cocktail. Sadly, the cocktails aren't listed on the website, so I don't recall the exact name of what I ordered. It was a bourbon based cocktail and really lovely. Aish got something with gin. They were both delicious.

As appetizers, we ordered the Jar of House-made Pickles (yummy!) and Potato and Cheese Fritters (tasty!). Since Aish is a vegetarian and I am not, we wanted to find things that we would both enjoy and we certainly achieved that!

For my entree, I got the Pork Shoulder Baked Can o'Rigatoni. Check out the beautiful presentation below!

It was served with spicy garlic, basil ricotta, and tomato pomodoro sauce. I found the random garlic and ricotta on the side to well, just that, random. I'm not sure how you're supposed to incorporate whole cloves of garlic into the dish and I didn't want to, so I just left it :)

Aish, the special vegetarian that she is, ordered the Butternut Squash and Wild Mushroom Pappardelle, served with pickled beech mushroom and mushroom duxelle. She enjoyed it and I tried a bite - very tasty! Sometimes I worry a vegetarian dish will be boring and this certainly was not.

The dessert menu here is quite impressive. We split the Big Apple Tart served with earl grey caramel, oat crumble, and Mexican cinnamon ice cream. How beautiful? I love that it pays tribute to the Empire State Building, which is perfectly viewable from the Spyglass bar upstairs.

I mentioned to our server, Eric (who was fantastic!), that I have a blog. A little bit later, he returned to the table with two glasses of Champagne and encouraged us to enjoy them from the bar upstairs (the Spyglass). I was happy to follow his suggestion :)

I highly encourage you to check out this restaurant! Delicious food, excellent service and views to boot!
