Tiki Me Out to Dinner

A Hot "Date" at Trader Vic's

During our trip to Atlanta, I had a wonderful dinner with Rob, one of the new hires in my class at work. We were staying at the Hilton Atlanta for the National Black MBA Conference and chose to share a meal at Trader Vic's Atlanta. Rob's lovely girlfriend (who was in town for the Conference) couldn't join us for dinner so it was sort of a pseudo-date but not.

We both got Tiki drinks: Rob got a Mai Tai and I got a Painkiller. Very potent - so we each nursed one during our meal. We started with the Crispy Calamari, served with roasted garlic aioli and a mint cilantro drizzle. It was so tasty - LOVE anything with mayo in it, so the aioli was awesome.

For the entrees we split the Grilled Sake Hanger Steak (served with Chinese mustard greens and five spice onions, fried shoestring potatoes) and the Volcano Shrimp (stir-fried garlic shrimp, snow peas, shallots, and sweet and spicy ginger sauce). Both were very tasty, I enjoyed the steak marginally more.

This is such a fun restaurant! The vibe takes you to a completely different place - I had to remember that I was in the basement of a hotel and not away on a tropical island! Enjoy your vacation if you visit Trader Vic's!

Cheers,
