A Delicious Feast at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails
A couple weeks ago, I visited Atlanta for the National Black MBA Conference. After our team meeting the first night, Jo, Rob and I headed to dinner at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails, a fun spot with great food and an impressive cocktail list. Also, it was on our way back to the hotel, so it was perfect!
Instead of walking, we could have taken a horse drawn carriage, but we are humble folk.
As appetizers, we shared the Pimento Cheese (made with crispy cheese, green tomato marmalade, and strawberry jam) and the Vegetables (local lettuce, watermelon radishes, baby carrots, tomatoes, tarragon vinaigrette). The Pimento Cheese was delicious and the Vegetables were nice and light.
For my entree, I got the Roasted Chicken, with marble potato, corn, malabar spinach, and smoked bacon butter. It was INSANELY GOOD. No boring chicken! We shared the bacon braised collard greens - very tasty too.
For dessert, we got the mini carrot bundt (spiced carrot crisps, cream cheese frosting, and hibiscus honey) and blueberry fried pie (bourbon anglaise and blueberry gastrique). You will notice that the pie looks very odd, potentially like a female's reproductive system. Apologies, as now I know you can never un-see it. Oh well. #sorrynotsorry
The carrot bundt was disappointing but the pie was fabulous, despite its odd presentation.
During the conference, Diageo hosted an incredible party at Compound nightclub. The bar was transformed by our team! I was impressed but not surprised by what Keenan (my boss) was able to execute. I got to feel like a total celebrity because I was THIS CLOSE to 2 Chainz and other famous artists - how fun! I do work a lot but the pay-off is awesome :)
If you're in ATL, give White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails a visit!
Cheers,
Liz
