A Birthday Dinner with Friends!

Several weekend ago, I headed uptown to Harlem to celebrate a friend's birthday (Lauren) that also happens to be a coworker. We arranged a four course dinner at The Park 112 and had plenty of Zacapa Rum cocktails! The restaurant features the Dark and Storm on its cocktail list, made with Zacapa Rum, Ginger Beer, Chai Tea and Lime Juice. It was delicious!

To start, there were two choices: Carrot Ginger Soup or Kale & Romaine Salad. I got the salad - it was delicious! For the second course, the choices were Lamb Ribs, Veggie Spring Roll or Teriyaki Chicken Lollipops. I got the Lamb Ribs, served with sorrel barbecue sauce. I've never had lamb ribs before and DAMN were they tasty! The sauce really complemented the tender meat. For the third course, the choices were the Brick Chicken or Pan Seared Salmon. I got the Brick Chicken served with sweet potato sage puree, sauteed kale and herb chicken jus. It was anything but boring chicken - so tasty! For dessert, the options were Chocolate Lava Cake or Carrot Cake. I can never say no to lava cake - I absolutely love the contrast between warm chocolate and cold ice cream. When they melt together, it makes me very happy :)

Aside from the rum cocktails, I also ordered the Frederick Douglass, made with Bulleit Bourbon, Chili Passion Fruit Puree, and Rimmed with Chili Sugar. It was a WEE bit too spicy for me but incredibly tasty! It was a sipper drink.

This is a fun restaurant that has inspired me to make an effort to explore Harlem more!
