A Bar with Cocktails that Rival the View

After we saw Sex with Strangers, Aish and I wanted to grab a cocktail in the neighborhood. I checked Yelp and noticed that I had bookmarked visiting The Skylark

This 30th floor, rooftop bar has an incredible view. It is smack dab in the middle of Midtown, so you can see Times Square, the Empire State Building, and every other building in the area. Did I take a picture of the view? Of course I did. It was on my iPhone, but it still turned out nicely.

What a view!

Aish got a champagne-based cocktail. I tend to stay away from these because they are always smaller and do not last as long! The Coco is made with several liqueurs - peach, violet, chartreuse (which is getting very popular), elderflower - gin, prosecco, and floating strawberry "pearls" - she enjoyed it...but not for long! :)

I asked the bartender for his favorite cocktail, noting that I love dark spirits. He recommended the Fort Knox, made with bourbon, mezcal, chartreuse (again!!) and honey syrup. The ice cube contained a grilled lemon - as it melted, it released another layer of flavors. It was absolutely fantastic. I LOVED IT! Get it when you go!

Aish snapped a photo of me on my iPhone - notice my red face - it was QUITE warm out that evening. Humidity = grossness.

Oh...hey! (notice the difference between iPhone and camera photos?)

This was a fun spot! In addition to the rooftop bar, there is another bar indoors. There is plenty of seating (even if you don't have bottle service) which us common folk appreciate! Not to be outdone, this lower level bar also opens up to a terrace.

On our walk home (we both live on 34th Street), I snapped a photo of Aish in some of the street art. Isn't she adorable? I know!
