Prohibition Bakery Brings the Boozy Baked Goods!

I had mentioned to my friend Scott that I really would love if someone would send me something on my birthday at work. I always see other ladies getting flowers for significant milestones or "just because" - well, in turning 30, I had enough of a reason to get a lil something!

In passing, I said I had read about Prohibition Bakery, a sweet bakery in the Lower East Side that specializes in alcohol-inspired and infused baked goods! These cupcakes are no joke - you need an ID to purchase them. Why? The alcohol is added AFTER baking, so unlike rum cakes or other desserts you've had in the past, it doesn't evaporate. Talk about a potent piece of nom!

This bakery offers delivery in Manhattan. On my birthday, I was pleasantly surprised when I got a phone call from a courier in the lobby of my office. A present...FOR ME?

OMG!

OMG!

While I had mentioned to Scott that I 1. Wanted something delivered to me and 2. Wanted to try Prohibition Bakery, I was delighted to find that he followed up - for me!

My favorite was by far the Pretzels & Beer, made with Six Points Sweet Action Ale, Nutella, pretzel and white truffle. Next, the Car Bomb, made with Whiskey, Bailey's, Stout and Chocolate. The others were quite tasty, but those stood out!

I love the guide that came with the cupcakes - it made figuring out what was what MUCH easier! Color photos would have been even easier, but I'm sure they want to keep costs down.

I look forward to visiting this bakery in person.
