The Newest Spot at the NoMad Hotel
In order to understand the brands I work on, I end up visiting a lot of different bars in New York City. This is something I do already, so to be able to call it a part of my job still hasn't sunk in yet. Have I mentioned I love my job?
After enjoying a Zacapa Daiquiri at Middle Branch, Lynnette and I headed over the The NoMad Bar. This is the newest bar to open at The NoMad Hotel. I've gone multiples times to The NoMad Library. I love that spot! I've heard nothing but rave reviews about this ultra-trendy new bar.
The back bar and the entire space is beautiful. We went on a Tuesday and it was JAM PACKED at 7pm. We hovered around the bar with cocktails until two people got up. Then, we parked ourselves at the bar!
I don't recall the exact cocktail we had, but it was made with Zacapa Rum and very tasty! Check out that sex ice cube!
We started with the Carrot Tartare. It is topped with a quail egg and has sunflower seeds and mustard to accent the flavors. It was so unexpected! Prior to my first bite, I've only had tartare preparations with steak or seafood. This was lovely.
Next, we had the Bay Scallops, marinated with Yuzu and Pistachio. The flavor was citrus-forward and bright. These tasted as beautiful as they looked!
We got a Broccoli Rabe salad served with a delicious Anchovy and Parmesan Sauce and topped with flowers! I don't remember what it was but I loved it!
The baked clams were SO GOOD! They were packed with flavor from breadcrumbs, bacon and garlic. YUMMY!
What to say about the burger? It is a piece of art. It is made with dry-aged beef, cheddar, red onions and pickles.
THIS BURGER IS NOT MESSING AROUND! It was cooked to the perfect medium temperature. This is most certainly $17 well spent. I don't recall the name, but I enjoyed a sour style beer with it. It was quite good! I'll need to look for this variety again.
The french fries (separate order from the burger) are dressed with lemon and herbs, served with a pommery mayo and ketchup. They remind me of fast food fries that have been given a fancy face lift :)
For her main, Lynnette got the Shrimp Toast, served with seasonal tomatoes and basil.
A consistent theme is exquisite presentation - check out those cute tropical drinks!
For dessert, we got tasty cream puffs and "THE CANDY BAR"!!!
The Candy Bar is made in house and is a seductive combination of dark chocolate and caramel. Drool-worthy for SURE!
The chocolate and caramel brought up the flavor profile of the Zacapa XO that we sipped. Yum!
This is an incredibly hip spot with food and drinks to support its reputation! Give it a spin. Look out for Jane - she is one bad ass bartender!
Cheers,
Liz
