A Steakhouse Feast for Tim's Birthday
My brother and I both share August birthdays. We're ALMOST exactly three years apart, just shy by five days. We wanted to enjoy a meal at a place that is a favorite of ours. We've never been disappointed, only impressed at Wolfgang's on Park Avenue. We went on Wednesday at 8pm and it was JAM PACKED. Given its location, this is a solid after work option. The bar was full of people waiting for tables. I'd note that even with our reservation, we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table.
Once we were seated, I enjoyed one roll and then asked for our server to take them away! Tim can control himself around the carbs but I don't have the same willpower. The rest of our meal was seriously heavy, so I needed to play my carbs right ;)
We ordered the Steak for Two, medium. This massive porterhouse is DELICIOUS! I love how it is served on a hot plate with a beautiful buttery sauce. The presentation is certainly drool-worthy!
In addition to the meat, we got two vegetable sides (sauteed spinach and mushrooms). In the past, we've gotten creamed spinach and fries. It ends up being a bit too heavy with the steak though...especially if you plan on getting dessert (I mean duh).
Each time we've been here, we've gotten the Hot Fudge Sundae - it is so delicious! This is an odd thing to complain about, but the ice cream to hot fudge ratio is a bit off. It could have used more ice cream.
The Key Lime Pie (which we don't normally order) left much to be desired. It wasn't limey or creamy enough and the crust was eh. I'd recommend skipping this and getting the Pecan Pie which is DIVINE!
This is an awesome spot for special occasions or business dinners. The architecture is gorgeous and the restaurant is in the Former Vanderbilt Hotel dining room.
When you're craving a juicy steak, give this spot a whirl - you won't be disappointed!
Cheers,
Liz
