A Spectacular Feast
I have heard incredible reviews about Distilled NY and I was so excited to experience the Chef's tasting menu. The FEED ME Option. We kicked off a night with a Moonshine Shot. Distilled makes their own Pickle Juice which they partner with the good ol' White Lightening. I didn't take a photo, but it was actually quite nice.
The first thing we nibbled on was the Popcorn. It is sent from heaven! Sprinkled with nutritional yeast (so trendy!), garlic, and cumin. I could eat this by the bucket and would have if there weren't a parade of meat.
Next up, the Distilled Wings, served with Gochujang (a Korean condiment) and Point Reyes Blue Cheese. These were SO FREAKING GOOD. I loved the contrast of the sweet and salty Asian flavors against the creamy/savory blue cheese.
My second cocktail for the evening was the Zacapa Old Fashioned. It was incredible.
The chicken liver pate was served with crusty bread, whipped honey and red wine-pickled shallot. I was initially scared to try the pate but it was DELICIOUS!!
Next up, the Cheese & Crackers featured a Sweet Potato Burrata, Caraway Crackers and Pumpkin Seeds. Completely delicious!
We got three salads to pretend we were eating something healthy. The Greens, Sprouts & Herbs featured lemon zest, radish, and preserved lemon vinaigrette. The Shaved Apple Salad had Mizuna, Yuzu Maple Dressing, and Cashews. The highlight was the Kale & Carrot salad with golden raisins, cilantro and whole grain mustard. Absolutely lovely.
I am a huge fan of Chicken & Waffles, so I was ALL ABOUT the Country Fried Duck and Waffles. This was served with French Toast Style Waffle, Smoked Chili Maple Syrup, Whipped Honey Butter and Thai Basil. I really enjoyed this. It was definitely a heavier dish, but I mean, who cares at this point in the meal?
My favorite dish of the evening was the NY Strip Steak. It was served perfectly medium, with bone marrow black garlic butter, sauteed spinach and onion rings. It was so delicious. I wish I hadn't stuffed my face completely full before so I could have eaten more of it.
To end the meal, we got Granny's Spiked Candy Dish, featuring Beer Caramels, Dark Chocolate Mescal Cordials, Whiskey Marshmallows, Mulled Red Wine Gummies. So yummy!!! We also got the Oatmeal Cream Pie Cookies. YUMMO TOO!
This is an INCREDIBLE restaurant. Delicious food and impeccable cocktails.
Cheers,
Liz
