Tasty Bites that Pinch Your Wallet

After picking up some yummy sweets at Empire Cake, I walked over to Cherry to meet Christine for dinner. We were both looking forward to this meal...little did we know we should have managed our expectations!

I nearly walked by the entrance until I saw the striking neon sign.

I arrived several minutes early and promptly parked myself at the bar. After speaking to the bartender (who was very cute!), I decided to get the Cherry Bomb, made with tequila, cherry jam, black pepper agave and lemon. It was lovely! One of the ingredients in another cocktail, the Sesame Whiskey, caught my eye. The bartender was nice enough and gave me a sample of toasted white sesame infused whiskey. It tasted like a bagel!

When Christine arrived, she ordered the Bordello, made with Bison Grass Vodka, Cherry Blossom Agave, Cucumber and Lime. She enjoyed it :)

We ordered four items. Our server said that we should order more food because otherwise we'd be starving. This was the first red flag. After spending $100 on food...we would be starving? We should have ran then!

As you can see, the portion size for the Crispy Almond Shrimp left much to be desired. While it was delicious, I was done with my share of it after 3 bites!

The Tuna Tart, much praised by the bartender, was an insult. This "tart" was micro-thin with the suggestion of tuna on it. It was very yummy and VERY teeny for over $20!!

The dumplings were a saving grace as they were dense and packed with a hearty filling. The taste of the foie gras was a complement to the shortribs and did not overpower the beefy flavor.

The salmon avocado roll wasn't that thrilling. 'Nuff said.

After spending over $60 per person, we ran out of there! We were still hungry but we didn't feel like throwing more into this money pit. I recommend coming here for drinks and skipping the food!

Cheers,

Liz
